Super Falcons narrowly defeat Cameroon, now qualify to face South Africa in Paris Olympics.
Nigeria progressed to the final round of the African qualifying series for this year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament by defeating Cameroon in a two-legged tie.
Esther Okoronkwo’s 15th-minute goal at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja settled the match.
The only goal came after 105 minutes of goalless play, following a draw in the first leg in Douala. Okoronkwo, of Henan FC in China, received a long pass, outpaced her markers, and delivered a cross to captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

Although Ajibade’s chip was saved by Cameroon’s goalkeeper, Michaely Bihina, Okoronkwo capitalized on the rebound.
Cameroon almost scored in the 32nd minute when Menene Meyong headed a corner kick, but goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made the save.
Despite opportunities to increase their lead, Nigeria’s Ajibade and Okoronkwo were thwarted by Bihina.
Cameroon also had a chance to level the score in the 60th minute, but Marie Ngah Manga’s header was saved by Nnadozie.
