President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu welcomed Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the Presidential Villa on Monday following their historic win at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco on Saturday.
The Super Falcons arrived at the Presidential Banquet Hall for a reception hosted by President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu. The players and coaching staff were transported in coaster buses that reached the Aso Rock forecourt shortly before 4:36 p.m. local time.
The Super Falcons, who are now 10-time African champions after their remarkable 3-2 comeback victory against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco, were greeted upon arrival by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
In a post-match video call on Saturday night, President Tinubu praised team captain and tournament MVP Rasheedat Ajibade. He also commended the team’s incredible resilience in coming back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to secure the WAFCON title.
Over the past decade, the Super Falcons have won four Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024, bringing their total to ten championships. to 10
