The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on Saturday visited victims of the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, currently receiving treatment at Jos University Teaching Hospital.

Yilwatda, who was accompanied by his wife, Martina Yilwatda, expressed sympathy and solidarity with the victims and their families, describing the attack as “barbaric, painful and unacceptable.”
During the visit, the APC Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to safeguarding lives and property across the country, stressing that the recurring violence in Plateau State must be brought to an end.

He noted that the attack represents a grave assault on humanity and called for a shift from routine condemnation to deliberate, coordinated action aimed at preventing further violence.

“The pain of the victims and their families is one that must be shared by all,” Yilwatda said, adding that no society can achieve meaningful progress when its citizens live in fear and uncertainty.

As part of immediate relief efforts, the APC National Chairman announced a donation of N15 million to support victims of the attack and other vulnerable patients undergoing treatment at the hospital. He said the contribution is intended to ease medical and financial burdens resulting from the incident.

Yilwatda also extended condolences to families of those who lost their lives, praying for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones.
He commended the management and medical staff of the hospital for their prompt response and professionalism in handling the emergency.

In continuation of his engagements, the APC Chairman paid a condolence visit to the Ujah Anaguta, the paramount ruler of Jos North, over the attack on residents of Angwan Rukuba.
He emphasized that the incident must not be politicized or treated as a routine occurrence, urging stronger security measures, improved intelligence gathering, and enhanced community engagement to prevent future attacks.

Yilwatda called on political leaders, traditional and religious institutions, youth groups, and civil society organizations to unite against violence and promote peace across Plateau State.
He reaffirmed that the APC and the Federal Government remain committed to restoring peace, strengthening security operations, and ensuring that such incidents do not recur.

“The killing of innocent citizens must stop. The perpetrators must not prevail, and peace must return fully to Plateau State,” he said.

The visit underscores what Yilwatda described as the responsibility of leadership to not only speak in times of crisis but to stand with the people and act with compassion.
