The Minister emphasized the need for Vice-Chancellors to be aware of the planned protests by unknown groups.
While acknowledging the right to peaceful protest, the Federal Government is concerned about the safety of students, staff, and university property during such actions.
To ensure the safety of the university community, Vice-Chancellors are instructed to take proactive measures and issue reassuring statements to staff and students.
Students are encouraged to remain on campus to focus on their studies and minimize exposure to potential dangers during the protests.
This guidance comes ahead of organized protests scheduled from August 1 to 10, 2024. Meanwhile, both the presidency and police authorities have urged youths to reconsider participating in the protests.
