Tragic Crash: Speeding Vehicle Collides with Stationary Truck in Lagos
A devastating accident occurred late Tuesday night, claiming the lives of 10 individuals, including three children, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway at the Abule Osun area. The tragic incident happened when a fully-loaded Toyota Sienna vehicle, speeding along the expressway, collided with a stationary truck.
According to a statement by Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the crash occurred around 11 PM. Initial investigations revealed that the Siena vehicle, packed with passengers traveling from Eastern Nigeria, was moving at a high speed when it failed to notice the granite-laden truck, which had taken up half of the road, and rammed into it from behind.

Among the casualties were four female adults, three male adults, two female children, and one male child. In addition to the fatalities, three other individuals sustained critical injuries. These included one woman and two children, who were quickly rescued by officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and rushed to a nearby hospital.
Oke-Osanyintolu also confirmed that the deceased victims would be transferred to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit for further action, while the damaged vehicle was recovered with the help of LASEMA’s Lite Tow Truck.
Authorities continue to urge drivers to maintain caution, especially at night, when visibility is reduced, to prevent similar tragic incidents.
