#EndBadGovernance: Curfews Eased in Kaduna and Zaria

The curfew in Kaduna and Zaria is lifted, effective immediately as of Tuesday, 13th August 2024.

The Kaduna State Government has eased the dusk-to-dawn curfew implemented due to violence from the recent #EndBadGovernance protests.

This decision follows a thorough review of the security situation by the Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani.

In a statement, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, announced the complete removal of the 6 pm to 8 am curfew.

Law-abiding citizens are now free to move and engage in lawful activities in Kaduna and Zaria without restrictions.

However, the Security Council cautioned that any processions or gatherings must be coordinated with relevant agencies to prevent any disturbances and ensure public safety.

“The curfew removal is effective immediately,” stated the Council, which recommended the lift following an extensive assessment. The Council stressed its commitment to the safety of Kaduna State’s citizens.

Additionally, security forces will remain vigilant for any threats to public peace and will take action against those posing such threats.

Governor Sani acknowledged the contributions of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, and other stakeholders in managing the aftermath of the protests and assured them of his continued collaboration to foster peace, unity, and development in Kaduna State.
