[JUST IN] PDP govs begin emergency meeting in Abuja
Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under the aegis of the PDP Governors Forum are currently locked in a closed-door meeting over a number of national issues.

The Chairman of the PDPGF, Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), called for an emergency meeting.
The emergency meeting is taking place at the Oyo State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. Some of the governors in attendance include Seyi Makinde from Oyo, Godwin Obaseki from Edo, Ademola Adeleke from Osun, Dr. Dauda Lawal from Zamfara, Sheriff Oborevwori from Delta, and Bala Mohammed from Bauchi, among others.
Vanguard published a report yesterday stating that the PDP had called for an emergency meeting scheduled to be held today (Tuesday) in Abuja.
It was gathered in Abuja, on Monday that the main item on the agenda is the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
An anonymous member of the PDPGF revealed that the emergency session “is related to the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, where the current Governor, Mr. Similaye Fubara, and his predecessor, Barrister Nyeson Wike, are in conflict.” The member requested anonymity since they were not authorized to speak to the press.
Even though Wike is the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, serving under an All Progressives Congress (APC) government, both he and his successor as Governor of Rivers State are still members of the PDP.
The PDP-GF member stated, “It has become necessary to hold this emergency meeting because we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to things that are going wrong.”
“As a Forum (PDP-GF), we must act fast to ensure that this crisis doesn’t go out of hand, as such will not be to the benefit of anybody.”
The source disclosed that the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States will be discussed.
In addition to the governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, there are other issues of national importance that may also be discussed.
Other issues of national importance are also expected to be discussed during the gathering.
